Caring for the natural environment is an important part of the Shire of Wyalkatchem’s Strategic Plan. The Council works closely with the Land Conservation District Committee (LCDC) and community to enhance and care for the environment.

The many reserves in Wyalkatchem ensure that native flora and fauna are maintained.

Tidy Towns, through its environmental initiative, is a leader in conservation and recycling practices and townspeople are encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Salinity is a big issue throughout the wheatbelt and farmers are dealing with the problem through a combination of deep drainage, tree planting and perennial planting.
