Caravan Park camp kitchen officially opened
Money for the camp kitchen was donated by former Shire Councillor Kevin Jones and the centenary committee and these people were acknowledged recently by the unveiling of a plaque by Shire President Ed Garner. Kevin is a keen traveller and has always seen the value of having somewhere to cook, wash dishes and eat in a caravan park as a change from being confined to the small space of a van. His idea was taken up by the Shire, with Building Maintenance Officer Tony McDonnell doing a great job in its construction. Teacher Kate Dann with students from her year one class at Wyalkatchem District High School and talented student artist Alexander McDonnell have made the kitchen very colourful with their bright paintings. Paul de Pierres on behalf of the centenary committee spoke a few words on how happy the committee was to donate to such a worthwhile project. The Shire has already received positive feedback; the en suite bathroom facilities have always been a winner, the camp kitchen makes the Wyalkatchem Caravan Park an even more attractive place to stay.
