ABC "The Country Hour" Live from Wyalkatchem

13-Jun-2008
On a recent Thursday Skye Shannon and the Country Hour team presented the show from Wylie.

The show was broadcast from the Wyalkatchem and District Club. Much of the talk to local farmers was about the lack of rain and their strategies.  Amongst those in the spotlight were Steve Gamble, Quentin Davies, Ian Jones, Marcus Reilly, Sue and Jeremy Bruse, Will and Rachel Nightingale and Paul de Pierres.

Paul spoke about his love of history, music and writing and the recent stage production which brought money, laughter and something else to think about to the town. The recently formed Wyalkatchem choir also featured with "Look for the Silver Lining" and Barb Garner spoke briefly on their journey so far.

Looking on were members of the local community and farmers with  primary school students being encouraged to make some noise!  Drew Radford, the "man on the bike" who has been travelling drought affected areas in Australia was also present, Wyalkatchem being the last stop on his trip.  He spoke about the great spirit of communities in times of adversity.

The "Country Hour" team enjoyed the hospitality of the Wylie community with a sausage sizzle on the Wednesday night.
