"Joanie's Wedding" a Great Success
The occasion was "Joanie's Wedding" a musical extravaganza! Guests on both nights entered into the spirit by wearing wedding outfits, and what an array there was! Big Jim and the Jock Straps excelled musically with singers Cam Hudson and Barb Garner very well received. Tom McCormack and Graham Dickson starred with their guitars and Darren Garn, hidden up the back as he likes it played some mean drums. Steve Gamble once again was outstanding on the harmonica and guest drummer Beau Buxton had the crowd tapping their feet. Dwayne Sobey's didgeridoo performance in the song "Great Southern Land" put a tingle up many a spine. What a lot of talent for one small town!
The night was centred around the wedding of Joanie and Hairy Bob with all the obligatory associated events, like the Bucks' party, hens' night, catering discussion, toilet scenes and ceremony. Much hilarity resulted! Paul de Pierres was once again the mastermind behind the production, as well as his musical talents as Big Jim, this year he produced some amazing acting as well. In a celebrity interview just before half time Paul featured as Sir Les Bolger-Spitupon in an interview with Marcus Reilly's Michael Perkinson, a winning performance!
Players were Allana Bloomfield, Tracy Dickson, Michele Garn, Lynda Holdsworth, Rachel Nightingale, Marcus Reilly, Owen (he owns that Auntie Jack part!) Garner, Craig Ward, Dwayne Sobey, Will Nightingale, Brad Phillips, Jeremy Bruse, Jay Hammond and Paul de Pierres. All played their parts extremely well; the night was hilarious! Stage manager Amanda Smith was very efficient and thanks also to Peter Wood and Justin Begley who manned the video cameras. Coordinator extraordinaire once again was Colleen de Pierres. Well done!
Delicious food was served during the evening by the Hockey Club Friday and the Tennis Club Saturday while the Rotary Club and Football Clubs controlled the bar. All proceeds from the production go back into the community and a Dry Season Assistance Scheme grant means even more will be spread between the Wylie and Trayning communities.
Congratulations to the cast and crew; all the hard work over many months paid off! More photos to follow.....
