Bush Fire Information

Burning is prohibited from 1st November 2009 to 7 February 2010, with restricted burning between the 19th September and the 31st October 2009 and the 8th February to 22nd March 2010. For full details on fire breaks and burning press here 

Public Interest Disclosure Act

You can now download the Shire of Wyalkatchem's Public Interest Disclosure Procedures.

At the ordinary meeting of Council held on 19th July 2007, Council adopted the following motion:

Council Decision Number 687 - Item 8.6.8

1. That the Chief Executive Officer be appointed as Council's Public Interest Disclosure Officer in accordance with the provisions of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003

2.  That Council note the Public Interest Disclosure Procedures as pa document available to the staff and public and that the document be included in the Council Manual for Staff and available to the public from the Shire's website.

Summary
The Public Interest Disclosure Act came into effect on the 1st July 2003. The Act facilitates the disclosure of public interest information by providing protection for those who make disclosure and those who are the subject of disclosure.
It provides a system for the matters disclosed to be investigated and the appropriate action to be taken.

The Office of Public Sector Standards Commissioner (OPSSC) requires that the Shire report annually to the commissioner on any interest disclosures received during the previous financial year, even a nil return has to be lodged, which is the case for the Shire for 06/07.
