Shire Projects
The Shire of Wyalkatchem has a strong farming and community history and we are continuing this tradition with our vision to become the main centre to the North Eastern Wheatbelt.
Current projects underpinning this vision include the upgrading of health infrastructure, pursuing effective tourism strategies, the implementation of strategic land use, the encouragement of business development including the aviation industry and ensuring that our youth and elderly alike are actively engaged.
Our goal is for people, both young and old alike, including families to make Wyalkatchem their home. This goal is being realised by investing in the construction of a new medical centre, staff housing for police and the school and a caretaker’s residence at the Caravan Park. The Shire has also undergone accreditation for being an RV (recreational vehicle) Friendly Town and is supporting the redevelopment of the Flint Street Playground as a youth and family venue.
The Shire is also committed to supporting the Dowerin Motorplex and being part of the new home for steam trains along with Dowerin and Goomalling.
