Other Projects

There are a number of other projects under development. These are:

Recreational Vehicle Friendly Town

The Chief Executive recently signed off on a letter of understanding with the Campervan Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA). The CMCA has over 50 000 members across Australia and it is anticipated that many of them will now visit Wyalkatchem. There are a number of benefits regarding this association with the CMCA including:

  •  More recreational vehicles coming through town and the shire including following dedicated trails developed by the CMCA that include Wyalkatchem;
  • A guarantee that many of these visitors will stop in the town and the Shire and look at what Wyalkatchem has to offer.

The Chief Executive Officer is the project manager for this project and can be contacted on 9681 1166 or via email on ceo@wyalkatchem.wa.gov.au

Barracks Restoration Project

The Shire is nearing completion of the restoration of the Rail Barracks as an accommodation facility. This is being achieved with funding from Lottery West and has included community input along with the Business Community, the Curtin University students and the Prison Work Camp.

The Community Liaison Officer is the project manager for this project and can be contacted on 9681 1166 or via email on clo@wyalkatchem.wa.gov.au
