Slow or no internet?Fri, 27 Apr 2018
Your Council has contributed $18,000 toward funding new infrastructure in the Wheatbelt for fast internet provided by Crisp Wireless. Wyalkatchem is a member of the North Eastern Wheatbelt Regional Organisation of Councils (NEWROC), along with Trayning, Koorda, Mount Marshall, Mukinbudin and Nungarin. Each member local government contributed $18,000 and staff time in applying for a Federal grant of $700,000. This was combined with additional NEWROC funds of $100,000 and sponsorship from Bendigo Bank of $2,000 to implement this important project, which will see 13 towers connected to a data centre located at Merredin. The Shire of Merredin is now also a member of the scheme which will allow residents across the Wheatbelt to participate in this exciting project by becoming a retail customer of Crisp Wireless.
