The Shire of Wyalkatchem Council has elected Cr Christy Petchell as Shire President and Cr Mischa Stratford as Deputy President. This follows the very recent contested election last Saturday which saw councillors Petchell, Loton and Lawson-Kerr re-elected and Mr Stephen Gamble return to council as councillor.  All newly elected councillors made their declarations of office in front of Mr Don Eaton JP and a large public gallery that included seven former councillors.   The Council met in a Special Meeting Monday 20 October to make declarations of office and choose a new President from a field of three nominees. Similarly, three candidates nominated for the position of Deputy President. This is a confident showing of leadership and augers well for the new council. Congratulations to Councillors Petchell and Stratford and to all newly elected councillors on joining what promises to be a dynamic group.
