The Shire of Wyalkatchem encourages the community to recognise World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September.  It's worth noting that suicide is up to 60 percent higher in farming communities than non-farming communities.  Are there times where we could connect and ask each other RU OK?  The organisation RU OK has many useful resources to help with this important conversation (see: A conversation could change a life | R U OK? ).  The Wheatbelt Suicide Prevention Team from Holyoake is co-ordinating Light the Night and asking everyone to display a light in an outdoor area at sunset 10 September to demonstrate remembrance, connection and hope.  A poster with more information can be viewed at Public Notices on this website (pathway Council / Noticeboard / Public Notices).
